Bequest of Insurance

When Brittany Hall arrived at King College in 2007, she never imagined what a life-changing experience it would be. As time passed and she became more involved in her rigorous academic programming and extracurricular activities, she became acutely aware of what a special place King was.
Upon graduation, and while pursuing her graduate degrees in counseling, Brittany began to truly appreciate the exceptional educational opportunities which had been afforded to her while at King. She recognized that the scholarship assistance she had received made her studies possible, especially as a first-generation student.. She valued the strong Christian environment and decided then that she wanted to support King in a big and meaningful way. As Brittany says, "King has given so much to me, I want to do everything I can to pay that forward to the next generations of students."
Brittany serves on the Alumni Council and volunteers at many of the institution's events. She contributes annually to the King Fund but wanted to do more. This year, Brittany purchased a life insurance policy and named King University as the beneficiary.
"I hope they don't receive those benefits any time soon, but I am happy to know that I have established this gift so that King will reap the benefits one day. I realize people are motivated by different things, but for me, naming King as the beneficiary of this life insurance policy was one way I could boldly demonstrate just how important King has been to my life. It truly built the foundation that I continue to build on. My time as a student was transformational, and I want to give back, both while I’m here and when I am gone."

Is a bequest of a life insurance policy right for you?
Creating a bequest of life insurance is an easy gift to establish. You can name King University the beneficiary just like Brittany.
You may have purchased a life insurance policy years ago to create security for your children's future, and they are now grown, married, have found good jobs, and have accumulated assets, making the insurance no longer needed for its original purpose. You could include a bequest of insurance today that would help achieve your personal and charitable goals. By naming King University as the beneficiary of your policy, the insurance proceeds would go directly to help the mission of King, and your estate could benefit from an estate tax charitable deduction based on the value of the proceeds paid.
